I would love for the Solarpunk movement to make more of an impact in the real world by giving us (permission to envision) inspiring Images of the Future that can help drive social change. I am not hopeful in the sense that I believe we will save our current system by just replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy, i. e. I do not believe in green capitalism. I believe that given our current trajectory, collapse is the most likely scenario in the 21st century. Collapse not as a singular event but a process in which the previously established complexity in a society's/civilization's organization is declining. Nevertheless, I believe that when the established systems are failing and the previously held narratives that have been stabilizing them are losing their persuasive power, this can open up space to create something new in their place.
