=== Some Thoughts on Solarpunk and the Future ===
=== Some Thoughts on Solarpunk and the Future ===
I would love for the Solarpunk movement to make more of an impact in the real world by giving us (permission to envision) inspiring Images of the Future that can help drive social change. I believe that such images can be an antidote to cynical inaction and can give people ideas of how to push for the ecologically sustainable and socially just future they want to see. To this end I have started this wiki to collect and synthesize the information that is needed to put Solarpunk into practice.

I am not hopeful in the sense that I believe we will save our current system by just replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy, i. e. I do not believe in green capitalism. I believe that given our current trajectory, collapse is the most likely scenario in the 21st century. Collapse not as a singular event but a process in which the previously established complexity in a society's/civilization's organization is declining. Nevertheless, I believe that when the established systems are failing and the previously held narratives that have been stabilizing them are losing their persuasive power, this can open up space to create something new in their place. My hope is that we as Solarpunks can contribute to this, by finding new narratives and images to aspire to as well as through substantial projects and actions that improve people's lives.
